Each provider on our team has different areas of expertise, for which they have been trained to provide specialized services. Some of our specialty areas include:
Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Illness
Trauma, Grief/Loss, Race-based Stress
Substance Abuse, Women’s Issues, Life Transitions
We provide you with tools to cope effectively when adjusting to life’s challenges. We help you find strengths you may not realize you have, by tapping into what you may be unable to see during your time of stress. We work with you to see what steps would allow you to come out of your current struggle feeling empowered and healthy.
Through short-term, solutions-focused therapy, you are able to gain insight, reflections, and plan of action after each session, that gets you on track to how you want to live and feel. Therapy is a collaborative process, in which your life goals are the priority.
A key to quality therapy is finding the right “fit” between yourself and your therapist, typically one that is experienced in working with clients similar to you. All our therapists are Black women, with both clinical and real-life experience in the concerns of ethnic minority populations We also have vast experience with all sexualities and genders, and operate as affirming therapists.
Therapy is less intimidating than it may seem! Therapy first starts with a simple phone call to briefly discuss your needs, insurance/payment information, and set an in-person or virtual appointment that fits your current schedule. At your first appointment, we review standard paperwork and basic background information. Then, we discuss what brought you to therapy and clarify what you hope to work on. This session also helps with getting to know each other to make the environment as comfortable as possible to share your concerns.
By the end of the first session, we’ll identify something you can start to work on to already get you a step closer to your goals. Future sessions will typically once weekly for 50 minutes, with each session designed to meet your needs at that time. Keep in mind that therapy is not a binding contract; the first session is designed to give you a better idea of whether this is the right space for you at this time of your life. You’ll get a feel for how we can help you and whether you’d like to continue to move forward. For that reason, we encourage anyone struggling with their mental health to at least try out a session and go from there.
